BIRMINGHAM, England, June 11 (UPI) -- All scheduled matches Monday at the AEGON Classic tennis tournament in England were postponed because of rain.

Organizers had scheduled 15 first-round matches for the start of the grass-court season at the event but persistent rain cost them the entire day of play.

The tournament features four Top 20 players, including top-seeded Francesca Schiavone and No. 2-seeded Sabine Lisicki.

Lisicki defeated Daniela Hantuchova, this year's No. 3 seed, for the AEGON Classic title in 2011.

The $200,000 tournament is to be concluded Sunday.
