MLB: Tampa Bay 4, Miami 2

MIAMI, June 10 (UPI) -- James Shields tossed 6 1/3 strong innings and Elliot Johnson hit a two-run homer for Tampa Bay Sunday, handing the Rays a 4-2 win and series sweep of Miami.

Shields (7-4) shut the Marlins out until the seventh inning, eventually yielding four hits with three walks while striking out five.

Jake McGee and Joel Peralta combined to hold Miami to one run over 1 2/3 relief frames and Fernando Rodney earned his 18th save for the American League East-leading Rays.

They outscored the Marlins 22-7 in sweeping their three-game interleague set in Miami.

Matt Joyce added a solo shot while B.J. Upton went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the victory.

Miami starter Anibal Sanchez (3-5) was touched for four runs on seven hits over six innings.

Logan Morrison collected three hits, including a run-scoring single as the Marlins fell for the sixth straight time.
