PITTSBURGH, June 10 (UPI) -- A.J. Burnett won his fifth straight start Sunday, shutting down Kansas City on two runs over 7 1/3 innings in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 3-2 interleague victory.

Burnett (6-2) held the Royals hitless until the sixth inning, finishing with two runs allowed on five hits with six strikeouts.

Relievers Tony Watson and Juan Cruz closed out the eighth inning and Jason Grilli earned his first save of the season for the Bucs, who swept the three-game interleague series at PNC Park.

Andrew McCutchen socked a two-run homer and drove in three runs for Pittsburgh, which improved to 7-2 in June.

Royals starter Bruce Chen (5-6) absorbed the loss, surrendering three runs on four hits over five full frames.

Alcides Escobar collected a pair of hits and drove in a run for Kansas City.
