PHOENIX, June 10 (UPI) -- Former Athletic Trevor Cahill's 7 1/3 effective innings, bolstered by Miguel Montero's grand slam, gave Arizona an 8-3 interleague win over Oakland Saturday.

Cahill (4-5), who Oakland dealt to the Diamondbacks in December for Jarrod Parker and two other young players, frustrated his former mates by allowing seven hits and three walks but letting only two runs to score. He struck out seven.

The right-hander, who was coming off a 6-0 shutout of San Diego in his previous start, propelled the Diamondbacks to a series-clinching victory over the A's -- their third straight series win.

The D-backs had just taken a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning when Montero's slam broke the game open.

Jason Kubel went 3-for-4 with two RBI in the victory.

Parker (2-3) was tagged for six runs on eight hits over five frames in his 10th major league start.

Kurt Suzuki had two hits and an RBI for the A's.
