PITTSBURGH, June 9 (UPI) -- Alex Presley supplied the go-ahead RBI during a big fourth inning Saturday that carried the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 5-3 interleague win over Kansas City.
Trailing 3-0 after 3 1/2 frames, the Pirates chased Royals starter Vin Mazzaro (2-1) with a five-run outburst, grabbing control of the contest.
Pittsburgh tied it on catcher Brayan Pena's throwing error, which allowed Jose Tabata to score from third, and went ahead for good when Presley followed with a two-out RBI single.
The Pirates sent 10 men to plate in the inning and went on to clinch their three-game series at PNC Park.
Jared Hughes (2-0) earned the win with 2 1/3 scoreless relief innings and Joel Hanrahan notched his 17th save.
Yuniesky Betancourt smacked a two-run homer for the Royals.
