PITTSFORD, N.Y., June 7 (UPI) -- The unlikely trio of Beatriz Recari, Ryann O'Toole and Giulia Sergas shared the lead Thursday after 18 holes at the LPGA Championship.
They all shot a 3-under 69 at the Locust Hill Country Club in the second major event on the LPGA Tour this year.
The three leaders have combined for just one career victory -- that by Recari -- and they have only one Top 10 finish among them this year.
A star-laden group was just one shot back after the first round.
Three-time LPGA Championship winner Se Ri Pak, former U.S. Women's Open winner Paula Creamer, Ai Miyazato and Cristie Kerr were all tied for fourth at 70. Kerr won this tournament by 12 shots two years ago.
World No. 1 and defending champion Yani Tseng stumbled to a 76 and found herself trailing 79 players.
"If you can't hit it in the fairway on this course, it's kind of tough to hit a low score," said Tseng, who was a 10-shot winner in 2011.
Both Lexi Thompson and Michelle Wie stood at 74. Wie has missed the cut in four of her last five tournaments.
