I'll Have Another draws No. 11 for Belmont

ELMONT, N.Y., June 6 (UPI) -- I'll Have Another will start from post position No. 11 Saturday as he tries to nail down the first Triple Crown championship in 34 years.

The Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner was installed as the 4-5 favorite for the 1 1/2-mile test around the sweeping Belmont Park main track as trainer Doug O'Neill said the draw was OK with him.

"It will allow us to see how the pace sets up," he said.

Twelve 3-year-olds were entered for the Belmont. Dullahan and Union Rags, who finished third and seventh in the Kentucky Derby are regarded as the main threats. Neither got a clean trip in the Derby while I'll Have Another had things all his own way in that race. And while I'll Have Another was all out in winning the Preakness three weeks ago, Dullahan and Union Rags passed up that race in preparation for the Belmont.

Dullahan will start Saturday from gate No. 5; Union Rags, No. 6.

While I'll Have Another is given a good chance by odds makers worldwide to end the long Triple Crown drought, the race has been an insurmountable hurdle for some excellent contenders during the past three decades. The last to win all three was Affirmed in 1978.

Nadal, Ferrer reach French Open semis

PARIS, June 6 (UPI) -- David Ferrer defeated Andy Murray in four sets and Rafael Nadal sailed to another straight-set win Wednesday in advancing to the semifinals of the French Open.

Ferrer, the No. 6 seed, downed the fourth-seeded Murray 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-2 Wednesday. Nadal, gunning for a record seventh French Open title, posted a straight-set victory earlier.

Nadal defeated 12th-seeded Nicolas Almagro 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, 6-3 in improving to 50-1 all-time at Roland Garros. He's won the last two French Opens.

The other semifinal Friday will pit world No. 1 Novak Djokovic against third-seeded Roger Federer. The semifinal winners will decide the 2012 French Open title Sunday.

In women's play, top-four seeds Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova posted wins Wednesday and advanced to the semifinals.

Sharapova, ranked No. 2 in the world, had little trouble in dispatching 23rd-seeded Kaia Kanepi 6-2, 6-3. Kvitova, seeded fourth, won the last four games of the last two sets in a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 decision over qualifier Yaroslava Shvedova.

Webster sentenced for sex with teen

CINCINNATI, June 6 (UPI) -- Former Cincinnati Bengal Nathaniel "Nate" Webster was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in prison for having sex with an underage girl.

Webster, 34, had been convicted in April by a Hamilton County, Ohio, jury of four counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor, WXIX-TV, Cincinnati, reported.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said Webster began having sexual contact with the victim, the daughter of a former Bengals coach, when she was 15 and said he was charged only for incidents that took place when she was 15. In Ohio, 16 is the legal age of consent.

During some of the incidents, Deters said, Webster had a gun and threatened to harm the girl and her family if she told anyone.

The victim told her parents about the abuse, WXIX said.

"It is disgusting that Webster would threaten this young victim and her family to keep her from reporting his sexual assaults on her," Deters said.

Webster's attorneys had argued during the trial the victim was 16 years old at the time of the sexual contact.

Webster, who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2000, was traded to the Bengals in 2004 and signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2006. He hasn't played in the NFL since 2008.

Webster was hired last year as the defensive coordinator for the football team at Bellevue High School in Ohio.

Redskins to move camp to Richmond, Va.

RICHMOND, Va., June 6 (UPI) -- Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell said Wednesday that the Washington Redskins will move their training camp to Richmond, Va., next year.

The Redskins have their offices in the Washington suburb of Ashburn, Va., and play their home games at FedEx Field in Landover, Md. They have had their training camp at the practice facility in Ashburn in recent years.

A site for the training camp in Richmond is to be determined.

The Redskins are also expected to expand facilities at the Ashburn office site.

"Virginia considers the Redskins our team," McDonnell said in a statement. "The team is based here. The team trains here. The players live here.

"Virginians root for the Redskins on the field and off the field the team contributed greatly to the economy and culture of the commonwealth."

Redskins General Manager Bruce Allen said the team has made "significant improvement" to FedEx Field and Redskins Park, the headquarters in Ashburn.

"We are very pleased to continue our relationship with the Commonwealth of Virginia that my father (former Redskins Coach George Allen) established 41 year ago," Allen said.
