Hunter back with Angels after son's arrest

ANAHEIM, Calif., May 28 (UPI) -- Los Angeles Angels outfielder Torii Hunter has returned to the team following the arrest of his 17-year-old son, Manager Mike Scioscia said Monday.

The Angels skipper told reporters Hunter -- who was placed on the restricted list May 14 -- worked out with the team Monday in Anaheim, Calif., where the team was playing the New York Yankees.

Hunter could be activated in time for Tuesday's contest.

The 36-year-old left the team after his son, Darius McClinton-Hunter, was arrested this month in connection with a sexual assault investigation at his Texas high school.

"He has been hitting -- in the cage, off the tee and he's actually taken some live BP (batting practice)," Scioscia told the Orange County Register. "He's been able to run, throw a little bit. But you want to assess him in a full workout. There's going to be some stiffness he's got to work through."
