Report: No discipline for Kings' Brown

LOS ANGELES, May 23 (UPI) -- No disciplinary hearing has been set for the Los Angeles Kings' Dustin Brown despite a controversial hit against Phoenix, USA Today reported Wednesday.

The newspaper said the NHL hadn't summoned Brown one day after his knee-to-knee collision with the Coyotes' Michal Rozsival in overtime of the Kings' Western Conference Finals clincher Tuesday.

Rozsival had to be carried off the ice after the play, which happened following an offsides whistle. It was shortly followed by Dustin Penner's game-winner, which put Los Angeles into the Stanley Cup Finals and ended the Coyotes' season.

There was acrimony during the ensuing ceremonial handshakes as Phoenix captain Shane Doan exchanged heated words with Brown and other Kings members.

Brown told reporters after the game the hit was a legitimate one because it also involved upper-body contact.

"Rozsival was cutting to the middle and I cut across and made contact," he said. "Obviously, they thought it was a kneeing. It happened at high speed. I felt like I got him with my shoulder and my left side and his right side all made contact from toe to shoulder."
