U.S. Olympic basketball training team chosen

COLORADO SPRINGS, May 21 (UPI) -- NBA Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving of Cleveland is among 13 players on the select team that will train against the U.S. men's national basketball team.

The teams will work together in Las Vegas in July, preparing for the Summer Olympics beginning July 27 in London.

"The USA select team was a vital part of the USA men's national team's training in 2007, 2008 and 2010, and again in 2012 we'll utilize this team of select NBA players to help get our national team ready for the very competitive summer that is ahead of us," USA Basketball Chairman Jerry Colangelo said Monday.

The select squad will be coached by Jay Triano, former coach of the Toronto Raptors.

Joining Irving on the team will be Ryan Anderson of Orlando, DeJuan Blair of San Antonio, DeMarcus Cousins of Sacramento, DeMar DeRozan of Toronto, Derrick Favors of Utah, Paul George of Indiana, Taj Gibson of Chicago, Gordon Hayward of Utah, Kawai Leonard of San Antonio, Jeremy Lin of New York, Klay Thompson of Golden State and John Wall of Washington.
