ANDALUCIA, Spain, May 19 (UPI) -- Graeme McDowell won the first extra hole Saturday to beat Sergio Garcia and round out the semifinals field at the Volvo World Match Play Championships in Spain.

McDowell, who won the U.S. Open in 2010, will face Rafael Cabrera-Bello in the semis, and Nicolas Colsaerts will take on former British Open champ Paul Lawrie.

McDowell missed a five-foot putt on the 18th hole, which would have given the victory in regulation. It was Garcia who muffed a short out on the first extra hole, which was also played on No. 18, and watched as McDowell putted for par and a trip to the next round.

Lawrie cruised past Retief Goosen Saturday. Colsaerts needed a late charge to get past Brandt Snedeker and Cabrera-Bello topped fellow Spaniard Alvario Quiros.
