CORAL GABLES, Fla., May 16 (UPI) -- New York Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire has enrolled at the University of Miami, where he is pursuing a bachelor's degree in general studies, UM said.

Stoudemire, 29, who entered the NBA straight out of Cypress Creek High School in Orlando, has enrolled in summer classes, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday.

He posted on his Twitter account: "Just enrolled at the University of Miami. Working on continuing my education."

He included a photo of himself making a "U" sign.

Stoudemire missed a playoff game against the Miami Heat after he punched a fire extinguisher enclosure following a recent loss at AmericanAirlines Arena, the Sun-Sentinel said. The Knicks were knocked out of the playoffs by the Heat.
