SAN JOSE, Calif., May 13 (UPI) -- Alan Gordon notched the equalizer in the 88th minute Sunday, netting the San Jose Earthquakes a 1-1 draw with Chivas USA.

Trailing 1-0 since 4 minutes into the contest, the Earthquakes finally pulled even when Gordon converted on a header from the center of the box on an assist by Sam Garza.

The late goal netted a point for San Jose (7-2-2), which bypassed Seattle to grab sole possession of second place in the Western Conference at 23 points.

Chivas (3-6-1) got an early goal from Jose Erick Correa -- his first career MLS tally.

The Goats snapped a three-game losing streak.
