CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 9 (UPI) -- Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs predicted Wednesday he will be back on the field before the end of next season.

Suggs told The Baltimore Sun that surgery Tuesday for a torn Achilles' tendon went well. He was treated by Dr. Robert Anderson, an orthopedic surgeon in Charlotte, N.C.

"There is only a small incision, and he said it was not as bad as some thought it was, which I had already been told," Suggs said.

Suggs was injured in late April during a workout at his home in Arizona. He said he has been told since the injury he could expect to play within four to six months and that still stands, which would put him back in the game by the beginning of November.

"I'm 29 years old," Suggs said. "I don't miss games. I'll be returning soon."

Suggs was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year after last season.
