NHL suspends Flyers' Giroux for Game 5

NEW YORK, May 7 (UPI) -- The NHL Monday suspended Philadelphia forward Claude Giroux for the Flyers' do-or-die contest against New Jersey in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The forward was sanctioned for his hit on the Devils' Dainius Zubrus during Sunday's Game 4, which Philadelphia lost 4-2 to go down 3-games-to-1 in the best-of-seven series.

Game 5 is set for Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Giroux, after arguing about a non-call on Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur for illegally playing the puck late the second period, struck Zubrus in the head with his shoulder.

Giroux has played a pivotal role in the Flyers' playoff run, racking up eight goals and nine assists over 10 post-season games.
