SEATTLE, May 6 (UPI) -- Jesus Montero delivered a two-run double in the first inning Sunday and Seattle used a solid start from Hector Noesi to down Minnesota 5-2.
Dustin Ackley drew a lead-off walk and Brendan Ryan followed with a single in the first against the Twins' Nick Blackburn (0-4). They each moved up on an out and scored when Montero lined a hit down the left-field line.
The Seattle designated hitter then came home on a Kyle Seager single and the Mariners went on to claim the rubber match of a three-game set at Safeco Field.
Noesi (2-3) surrendered one run on four hits and three walks in a seven-inning start, striking out five.
Blackburn was roughed up for five runs on seven hits over six frames for Minnesota, which fell to a major-league worst 7-20 on the season.
Ryan Doumit went 3-for-3 with two solo homers for the Twins.
