NEW YORK, May 6 (UPI) -- Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey yielded only one run over eight innings Sunday, staking the New York Mets to a 3-1 victory Arizona.

Dickey (4-1) carried a shutout into the ninth inning, holding the Diamondbacks to four hits while overcoming four walks and striking out four.

The right-hander allowed a run in the ninth when he issued a lead-off walk to Gerardo Parra and Justin Upton followed with double.

Tyler Byrdak relieved and retired Jason Kubel on a long fly to left, after which Frank Francisco set down the final two Arizona batters to nail down his seventh save.

Daniel Murphy drove in two runs with a first-inning single and Josh Thole added an RBI for the Mets, who took the rubber match of a three-game series at Citi Field.

The D-Backs' Trevor Cahill (2-3) absorbed the loss, surrendering three runs on five hits over seven frames.
