DETROIT, May 6 (UPI) -- Rick Porcello and four Detroit relievers combined to shut down the White Sox on five hits Sunday, handing the Tigers a 3-1 victory over Chicago.
Porcello (3-2) yielded one run on four hits in a 6 1/3-inning stint, turning in his second straight strong start following a rough start to the season. The right-hander walked two and struck out five.
Chicago starter Dylan Axelrod (0-1) was touched for a pair of runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings.
Adam Dunn homered for the only White Sox run.
