MLS: New York 1, Los Angeles 0

CARSON, Calif., May 5 (UPI) -- Ryan Meara logged his second shutout of the season Saturday, backstopping Red Bull New York's 1-0 win over Los Angeles.

New York (5-3-1) grabbed a lead in the 19th minute when Joel Lindpere took a pass from Jan Gunnar Solli inside the Galaxy box and unleashed a shot past onrushing Galaxy goalkeeper Bill Gaudette for his first goal of the season.

Meara then took over, making a leaping save on Juninho in the 82nd -- parrying the shot over the crossbar -- and also turned aside a Landon Donovan attempt 4 minutes later.

The Galaxy (3-5-1) continued a disappointing start to the season, taking just one point from their last three games.
