Logano edges Busch at Talladega

TALLADEGA, Ala., May 5 (UPI) -- Joey Logano nosed ahead of Kyle Busch just yards from the finish Saturday to win the Nationwide Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Logano passed his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate on the final lap and edged Busch by just 0.034 seconds for his second Nationwide win of the season in a race that featured two green-white-checkered finishes.

Busch came up only inches short in his bid for his first Nationwide race victory as both the driver and owner of his No. 54 car.

Eric McClure had to be cut out of his vehicle and was removed on a stretcher after he slammed head-on into the inside retaining wall during the first attempt at a two-lap overtime finish.

Race officials said he was airlifted to the University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. came in third, Cole Whitt claimed fourth place and Dale Earnhardt Jr. rounded out the Top 5.
