MINNEAPOLIS, May 1 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Vikings waived running back Caleb King Tuesday after he was jailed for allegedly beating up a man who said he looked like actor Eddie Murphy.
King was arrested during the weekend for allegedly fracturing the skull of a guest at a party in Oak Grove. He was released on bond Tuesday.
The Vikings said Tuesday afternoon they had waived King, who signed with the team as a rookie free agent out of Georgia last season but did not see any action.
As of Tuesday, King had not been formally charged in the incident, which allegedly flared up when Andrew Hayek told King he resembled Murphy. The (Minneapolis) Star-Tribune said witnesses told Anoka County sheriff's deputies King followed Hayek outside and punched him in the face.
Hayek tried to lock himself in his car and call 911 but King allegedly pulled him out of the vehicle, pummeled him and then threw him to the ground.
