ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 1 (UPI) -- Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria will miss 4-to-8 weeks due to a partially torn left hamstring, the team announced Tuesday.
Longoria, who is batting .329 in 23 games with four homers and a team-best 19 RBI, was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

The fourth-year player hurt the leg when slid awkwardly into third base during the third inning of Monday's game against Seattle. The Rays won 3-2 in 12 innings.
He will be replaced on the roster by infielder Will Rhymes, who has been called up from Class AAA Durham.
