ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 1 (UPI) -- Matt Joyce paced Tampa Bay with a first-inning RBI triple and a solo homer Tuesday, boosting the Rays to a 3-1 victory over Seattle.

Ben Zobrist drew a one-out walk off Hector Noesi (1-3) in the bottom of the first and Joyce followed by belting a pitch off the center-field wall. He later scored on Luke Scott's sacrifice fly.

Joyce made it 3-1 Tampa Bay with a solo shot in the third and the red-hot Rays held on to take their second straight against the Mariners and ninth win in 10 games overall.

Matt Moore (1-1) notched his second major league victory, allowing one run on seven hits while walking one and striking out seven in five innings.

Noesi finished by allowing three runs on three hits in a 5 2/3-inning stint.

Michael Saunders' solo homer accounted for the Mariners' only run.
