ATLANTA, April 26 (UPI) -- Josh Smith led Atlanta to a 38-point first period Thursday and the Hawks went on to roll over Dallas 106-89.

The outcome affected two of the first-round playoff series that will get under way this weekend.

Atlanta wrapped up home-court advantage in its post-season meeting with Boston, which will start Sunday. The defending NBA champion Mavericks finished as the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference and will face Oklahoma City in the opening round starting Saturday.

The Dallas-Oklahoma City series will be a rematch of last year's conference finals.

Smith scored 23 points, hitting 10-of-14 from the field. Jeff Teague had 17 points and Joe Johnson added 15.

Dirk Nowitzki led Dallas with 22 points in 26 minutes.
