MOBILE, Ala., April 26 (UPI) -- Lindsey Wright put together a bogey-free round Thursday that lifted her into a four-way tie for first place in the opening round of the Mobile Bay Classic.
Wright was joined by Jennifer Rosales, Caroline Hedwall and Katie Futcher. They had a one-shot lead over eight players and there were 35 players within three shots of the top spot.
Those deadlocked for fifth place at 68 included Haeji Kang, Mi Jung Hur, Cindy Lacrosse, Morgan Pressel, Sun Young Yoo, Stacy Lewis, Mariajo Uribe and Sydnee Michaels.
Natalie Gulbis was one of those shooting a 69 while Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson were part of the large group at 70.
World No. 1 Yani Tseng is skipping this event, as is Ai Miyazato -- who was a runaway winner on the LPGA Tour last week.
