MLB: Toronto 4, Kansas City 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 23 (UPI) -- Brandon Morrow yielded only one run over 6 2/3 innings Monday and the Toronto Blue Jays handed Kansas City an 11th straight loss, beating the Royals 4-1.

Morrow (1-1) earned his first victory of the season in his fourth start, stifling the Royals on seven hits while issuing only one walk and striking out three.

Luis Perez contributed 1 1/3 scoreless frames of relief and Francisco Cordero picked up his second save for the Blue Jays, who swept a four-game series from Kansas City.

Jose Bautista belted a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning as Toronto retained a share of first place in the American League East with the New York Yankees.

Bruce Chen (0-2) absorbed the loss, allowing three runs on six hit over seven frames for the Royals, who extended a team-record 11-game home losing skid with the setback.
