WASHINGTON, April 22 (UPI) -- Tyler Seguin scored 3:17 into overtime Sunday and the Boston Bruins avoided elimination with a 4-3 win over Washington in their first-round playoff series.

Seguin's overtime winner pulled the defending Stanley Cup champions even with the Capitals at three wins apiece as the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series now shifts back to Boston for a deciding Game 7 Wednesday.

Seguin also logged an assist as the Bruins shook off a 4-3 loss in Saturday's sixth game.

Andrew Ference, David Krejci and Rich Peverley each contributed a goal and a helper in Boston's must-have win.

Tim Thomas turned aside 36-of-39 shots to earn the victory.

Alex Ovechkin, Jason Chimera and Mike Green found the net for Washington.

Caps goaltender Braden Holtby yielded four goals on 31 shots.
