Bryant, Purtzer lead Legends of Golf

SAVANNAH, Ga., April 20 (UPI) -- Brad Bryant and Tom Purtzer teamed for a 12-under-par 60 in building a two-stroke lead after Friday's play at the Champions Tour Legends of Golf event.

The tournament is conducted under a better-ball format.

Bryant and Purtzer piled up 12 birdies in the round, including eight over a nine-hole stretch. They had pars on two par 5s but posted birdies at the par-3 15th and 17th holes. The team shot 7-under 29 on the second nine.

Four teams are tied at 10-under and three more are 9-under after the first round of the 54-hole tournament.

The teams in second place are Michael Allen and David Frost, Russ Cochran and Kenny Perry, Brad Faxon and Jeff Sluman, and Bruce Fleischer and Tom Jenkins.
