MLB: Toronto 7, Tampa Bay 3

TORONTO, April 17 (UPI) -- Adam Lind went 3-for-3, homered and drove in three runs Tuesday, powering the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-3 victory over Tampa Bay.

Lind's two-run blast in third inning gave Toronto a 4-0 lead and he later added an RBI single for the Blue Jays, who claimed the opener of a three-game set.

Jose Bautista added a solo shot and a sacrifice fly while Brett Lawrie also went deep for Toronto.

Ricky Romero (2-0) earned the victory, yielding three runs on eight hits over six frames. The left-hander issued three walks and struck out four.

Rays starter Jeff Niemann (0-2) was touched for five runs (two earned) on three hits over five innings.

Matt Joyce went 2-for-4 with bases-empty homer for the Rays, who fell for the fifth time in six games.
