BRUSSELS, April 17 (UPI) -- Kim Clijsters said Tuesday she will skip the French Open and the entire European clay-court season to get ready for Wimbledon and the Summer Olympics.

The former world No. 1 has been hobbled by a torn hip muscle. She expects to resume training in about three weeks with the goal of being ready to play on grass in The Netherlands in mid-June.

Clijsters, now ranked 41st, said her "current physical condition does not allow me to be ready for Roland Garros."

The 28-year-old has competed in only three tournaments this year. She has said the Olympics, which start July 28, will be her final WTA event.
