MLB: Philadelphia 8, New York Mets 2

PHILADELPHIA, April 15 (UPI) -- Cole Hamels struck out 10 batters and Ty Wigginton had four RBI Sunday, propelling Philadelphia to an 8-2 win over the New York Mets.

Hamels (1-1) was effective against the Mets over seven innings, yielding two runs on six hits. He issued only one walk in rebounding from a season-opening loss to Miami.

Wigginton drove in the go-ahead run with a seventh-inning sacrifice fly and later delivered a bases-clearing double, while Jimmy Rollins and Hunter Pence each added two hits and an RBI.

Philadelphia salvaged one win in their series against the Mets.

New York's Ramon Ramirez (1-1) was charged with the loss after allowing a pair of runs in the seventh.

Ike Davis went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer for the Mets, who fell to 6-3 to start the season.
