DENVER, April 15 (UPI) -- Todd Helton blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth Saturday, rallying the Colorado Rockies to an 8-7 win over Arizona.

The Rockies trailed 7-5 after 7 1/2 innings but began a comeback in the bottom of the eighth when Tyler Colvin singled off David Hernandez and Eric Young drove him in with a double.

Then in the ninth, Diamondbacks closer J.J Putz (0-1) hit Marco Scutaro with a pitch to start the frame and two outs later Helton unloaded a bomb to right to complete the comeback.

Tyler Chatwood (1-0) earned the victory with two innings of shutout relief for Colorado, which blew a 5-1 lead earlier in the game.

Michael Cuddyer went 3-for-4 with an RBI while Ramon Hernandez added a solo homer for the Rockies.

Miguel Montero smacked a three-run home run for Arizona.
