MLB: Cleveland 13, Kansas City 7

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 15 (UPI) -- Shelley Duncan's three-run homer highlighted a big third inning Sunday that powered the Cleveland Indians to a 13-7 win over Kansas City.

After spotting the Royals an early 3-0 lead, the Tribe roared back with six runs in the third. Shin-Soo Choo provided an two-run double and Jack Hannahan added a run-scoring single in the big frame.

Travis Hafner went 3-for-4 with a solo homer while Casey Kotchman added three hits, including a two-run shot, as Cleveland completed a three-game sweep of Kansas City.

Ubaldo Jimenez (1-0) earned the victory despite allowing nine hits over five innings. He yielded four runs, walked three and struck out five.

Royals starter Luis Mendoza (0-2) was shelled for nine runs (five earned) on nine hits before coming out after four full innings.

Chris Getz went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and Brayan Pena added four hits, including a run-scoring single, in Kansas City's loss.
