MLB: Philadelphia 3, Miami 1

PHILADELPHIA, April 12 (UPI) -- Joe Blanton limited Miami to a run on three hits over seven innings Thursday in carrying Philadelphia to a 3-1 decision over the Marlins.

The Phillies took two out of three from the Marlins with Blanton (1-1) bouncing back after losing in a relief appearance on Saturday in Pittsburgh. He struck out three and walked one.

Shane Victorino led off the fourth with a homer and John Mayberry delivered an RBI single later in that inning. Ty Wigginton produced the other Philadelphia run with another lead-off homer in the seventh.

Jonathan Papelbon came on in the ninth to earn his second save. Papelbon allowed two singles, but John Buck grounded into a double play to end the contest.

Mark Buehrle (0-2) took the loss, allowing all three runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. won the last two games of the series.

Miami completed a six-game road trip with a 2-4 record. The Marlins opened the season with a single game at home against St. Louis and now will return to Miami for a series against Houston.
