Mark DeRosa, Jesus Flores and Chad Tracy provided RBI as Washington improved to 4-2 on the season.

New York starter Johan Santana (0-1) took the hard-luck loss, yielding one run on five hits in a five-inning effort.

The Mets lost for the second time in six games.
