WACO, Texas, April 9 (UPI) -- The NCAA is probing hundreds of calls and texts made by Baylor University basketball coaches that allegedly violate recruiting rules, ESPN.com reported Monday.
The broadcaster said NCAA documents it obtained indicated men's Coach Scott Drew and women's Coach Kim Mulkey -- as well as their assistants -- were involved in making impermissible contacts with recruits over a 29-month period.
The revelations came less than a week after the Baylor Lady Bears completed an college basketball-record 40-0 season and claimed the NCAA Division I championship.
The NCAA disposition report revealed Baylor has already self-imposed some penalties as a result of the 4-year-old probe, ESPN.com said.
The inquiry reportedly began in 2008 when then-high school senior Brittney Griner and her father made "potentially impermissible contact" with members of the Baylor women's basketball staff.
Griner, the consensus women's college player of the year, carried the Lady Bears to their record season.
The final decision of the NCAA Committee on Infractions concerning the case hasn't been received yet, Baylor officials said in a statement, otherwise refusing to comment.
