MLB: Milwaukee 7, Chicago Cubs 5

CHICAGO, April 9 (UPI) -- Mat Gamel drove in the go-ahead run with a sixth-inning triple Monday and the Milwaukee Brewers went on to a 7-5 win over the Chicago Cubs.

With the score tied 3-3, Corey Hart greeted Shawn Camp (0-1) with a lead-off single and Gamel followed by cracking a 1-0 pitch into the right field corner, putting the Brewers ahead for good.

He later scored on Jonathan Lucroy's sacrifice fly and Milwaukee hung on to even its record at 2-2.

Ex-Cub Aramis Ramirez contributed two RBI for the Brewers.

Shaun Marcum (1-0) earned the victory after holding Chicago to three runs on five hits over six innings, walking none and fanning six.

John Axford picked up his first save by getting the final two outs in the ninth.

Darwin Barney and Bryan LaHair each socked solo homers for the Cubs, who lost for the third time in four games.
