Pierce, Durant honored for March

NEW YORK, April 4 (UPI) -- Paul Pierce of Boston and Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City were named Wednesday as the NBA's players of the month for March.

Boston produced a 12-5 record during the month, with Pierce averaging 22.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists. He took part in his 1,000th game with Boston March 9, becoming the 16th player in league history to reach that milestone with one team.

Durant was honored for the second straight month, having averaged 27.6 points a contest during March. His highlight game came March 23 against Minnesota, when he scored 40 points and claimed 17 rebounds in a double-overtime victory.

Oklahoma City went 11-5 during the month.
