ORLANDO, Fla., April 1 (UPI) -- Ty Lawson and Arron Afflalo combined for 47 points Sunday and the Denver Nuggets turned back a late Orlando surge to down the Magic 104-101.

Lawson netted 25 points to go with nine assists and Afflalo contributed 22 points for the Nuggets, who shot 56 percent from the field in the absence of Orlando's Dwight Howard.

The three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year missed the game due to a lower back strain.

Al Harrington added 18 points and Andre Miller supplied 15 as the Nuggets improved to 3-3 on their seven-game road trip.

They escaped with the victory when Orlando's Jason Richardson missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Jameer Nelson put in 27 points and Ryan Anderson provided 20 for the Magic, who fell for the third straight game.
