The 82-year-old was taken to a local hospital to have the situation analyzed, Alastair Johnston, chief operating officer of Arnold Palmer Enterprises, said in a statement.

"During the course of the day, he had been having his blood pressure checked because he has had some issues with new medicines. He'd been advised to continue to monitor his blood pressure," Johnston said.

"The situation is improving and nobody is overly concerned about the prognosis, but he is going to remain in the hospital overnight for observation."

Palmer missed his traditional meeting with participants following the tournament, which was won by Tiger Woods, who snapped a 30-month title drought.

Woods cruises to first win since 2009

ORLANDO, Fla., March 25 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods fired a 2-under-par 70 Sunday, claiming his first PGA Tour victory since 2009 with a five-stroke win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Woods, who hadn't won a PGA event since the 2009 BMW Championship, ended at 13-under-par 275 and claimed the Arnold Palmer event for the seventh time in his career.

It was the first trip to the winner's circle for the former world No. 1 since a 2009 car accident that ultimately led to revelations of marital infidelity and a divorce from his wife amid a media firestorm.

Woods has also been hampered by various injuries since his return to the PGA circuit last year.

The victory was career win No. 72 for Woods, moving him to within one of Jack Nicklaus.

Graeme McDowell finished alone in second place after struggling to a 2-over 74, finishing at minus-8.

Taking third was Ian Poulter (74) at 6-under 282.

Ernie Els, who needed a third-place-or-better finish to qualify for The Masters, fell short of that goal, managing a 3-over 75 for a fourth-place tie with Brian Davis (70), Kevin Na (73), Ryan Moore (70), Bubba Watson (72), Johnson Wagner (74) and Bud Cauley (72).

Castroneves ends drought with St. Pete win

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., March 25 (UPI) -- Helio Castroneves took the lead with 26 laps left and held on to end an 18-race winless streak with a victory Sunday at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

Team Penske's Castroneves passed J.R. Hildebrand for the lead after pitting for the second and final time and went on to claim his third IndyCar race on the streets of St. Petersburg, Fla.

He logged a triumph while driving IndyCar's new "DW12" car -- named in honor of Dan Wheldon, who died last year during a five-car crash at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Target Chip Ganassi Racing's Scott Dixon ended up 5.5 seconds behind Castroneves for second place.

Ryan Hunter-Reay and James Hinchcliffe of Andretti Autosport took the third and fourth spots while Castroneves teammate Ryan Briscoe rounded out the Top 5.
