NHL: Edmonton 6, Columbus 3

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 25 (UPI) -- Ladislav Smid scored the go-ahead goal during a second-period outburst Sunday that carried the Edmonton Oilers to a 6-3 victory over Columbus.

His tally was the second of four Oilers scores coming within an 8-minute span in the middle frame that boosted Edmonton from a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 lead.

Chris Vandevelde, Ben Eager and Sam Gagner also scored during Edmonton's flurry, while Ryan Jones added a goal and an assist for the Oilers, who snapped a five-game losing streak against the Blue Jackets.

Devan Dubnyk turned aside 29-of-32 shots to record the victory.

Rick Nash logged a goal and an assist for Columbus.

Steve Mason started in net but was yanked after yielding five goals on 26 shots. Allen York relieved and stopped all 11 shots he faced.
