OKLAHOMA CITY, March 24 (UPI) -- Russell Westbrook scored nine of his career-best 45 points in the second overtime Friday, lifting the Oklahoma City Thunder over Minnesota 149-140.
In a wild offensive show, Kevin Durant added 40 points for the Thunder and Kevin Love had a franchise-record 51 for Minnesota.
In addition to having three players reach 40 points in the game, Minnesota got its first triple-double in five years, with J.J. Barea producing 25 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds.
Durant hit a 3-pointer with 4 seconds left in regulation and Love answered with his own long-range shot just before the buzzer to bring about the first overtime.
A 3-point shot by Durant with 10 seconds left in the first extra period created another tie. Oklahoma City finally pulled away in the second overtime with Westbrook leading the way.
Westbrook and Durant teamed to make 32-of-54 shots from the field and all 16 of their foul shots. Durant added 17 rebounds.
Love went 16-of-27 in a record-setting effort that still was not enough to prevent the Timberwolves from losing for the fifth time in six games.
The teams combined to attempt 213 shots from the field -- 65 from beyond the 3-point line.
