Injured Chipper Jones to miss three weeks

ATLANTA, March 24 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Braves say third baseman Chipper Jones could be back on his feet in time for the team's home opener following knee surgery.

Jones, who turns 40 next month, will have work done on the torn meniscus in his left knee and will be out of action for three weeks.

The operation will cause Jones to miss the rest of spring training and Opening Day; however, the team said he could be in uniform when the Braves play their first game in Atlanta April 13.

Jones announced this week this will be his final season. The venerable slugger has had injury problems in the past few years but still hit .275 with 18 home runs and 70 RBI last season.
