Yanks' Chamberlain dislocates ankle

NEW YORK, March 23 (UPI) -- New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain has a dislocated ankle and will be out indefinitely, the team said Friday.

Chamberlain was injured Thursday while playing with his son, Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman said. He had surgery Thursday night.

Chamberlain was rehabilitating after undergoing so-called Tommy John surgery in his right -- throwing -- elbow last summer. He was looking to return to the team this June.

Chamberlain, 26, pitched in 27 games last season, going 2-0 with a 2.83 earned run average. In five seasons with the Yankees, Chamberlain is 20-13 with a 3.70 ERA.
