WASHINGTON, March 21 (UPI) -- The Washington Redskins, expected to draft a quarterback with the No. 2 overall draft pick, said Wednesday they have re-signed signal-caller Rex Grossman.

Grossman started 13 games for the last-place Redskins last season, compiling 3,151 yards and 16 touchdowns with 20 interceptions.

He is expected to serve in a back-up role should Washington draft Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III with its first-round pick as expected.

Terms of the nine-year veteran's deal weren't announced, but The Washington Post reported it is for one year.

Grossman has completed 265-of-458 passes in his career with Chicago, Houston and Washington.
