NHL: Dallas 4, Phoenix 3 (SO)

DALLAS, March 20 (UPI) -- Mike Ribeiro scored the game-winner in a shootout Tuesday and Dallas took sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division with a 4-3 win over Phoenix.

The Coyotes scored twice in the third period to send the contest into overtime. Ribeiro's goal in the second round of the shootout gave the Stars their seventh win in nine games and 85 points on the season, good for third in the Western Conference.

Ribeiro had three assists and Michael Ryder scored a pair of goals and notched an assist. Loui Eriksson had a goal and two assists.

Kari Lehtonen chalked up 27 saves and foiled Shane Doan on the Coyotes' final try in the shootout.

Doan had a key assist late in regulation when he stole the puck and fed Ray Whitney for a goal that tied the score 3-3 at 14:58 of the third period. Whitney also had an assist.

Lauri Korpikoski and Oliver Ekman- Larsson scored for Phoenix, and Mike Smith gave up three goals on 33 shots.
