NHL: Los Angeles 4, Nashville 2

LOS ANGELES, March 18 (UPI) -- Dustin Penner scored one goal and assisted on a second for Los Angeles Saturday and the Kings stayed in the playoff hunt with a 4-2 win over Nashville.

Kyle Clifford, Dwight King and Anze Kopitar also scored for the Kings, who claimed their fourth straight win and vaulted over idle Phoenix for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot with 82 points.

The San Jose Sharks also made it to 82 points with their win over Detroit Saturday.

Trevor Lewis distributed a pair of assists and Jonathan Bernier made 19 saves for Los Angeles.

The Predators, meanwhile, fell for the second straight time despite a goal and an assist from Martin Erat.

Pekka Rinne made 23 saves in Nashville's loss.
