NHL: Carolina 5, Minnesota 3

ST. PAUL, Minn., March 17 (UPI) -- Brandon Sutter and Tim Brent scored less than a minute apart in the third period Saturday, rallying Carolina to a 5-3 win over Minnesota.

Trailing 3-1, Drayson Bowman started the Hurricanes' comeback with his second goal of the game on an assist from Sutter with 2:46 remaining in the second period.

Sutter than notched the equalizer 7:16 into the final frame and Brent put Carolina ahead only 48 seconds later, wiring a shot from the right point that threaded its way through traffic and past Wild goalie Matt Hackett.

Chad LaRose added an empty-netter and Brian Boucher turned aside 21-of-24 shots for Carolina, which won a second straight game for the first time in a month.

Kyle Brodziak netted a goal and two assists while Hackett finished with 29 saves for Minnesota.
