INDIAN WELLS, Calif., March 15 (UPI) -- Top-ranked Victoria Azarenka stayed unbeaten in 2012 Wednesday by storming into the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open.
Azarenka won the first 11 games of the match and eventually defeated Agnieszka Radwanska 6-0, 6-2.
The victory pushed Azarenka's season-opening winning streak to 21 matches, equaling the second-longest on the women's tour in 15 years. Serena Williams won 21 in a row to start the 2003 season.
Martina Hingis went 37-0 to begin 1997.
Azarenka's semifinal opponent will be Angelique Kerber, who defeated eighth-seeded Li Na 6-4, 6-2.
The other quarterfinals will be contested Thursday, with second-ranked Maria Sharapova meeting Maria Kirilenko and Marion Bartoli confronting Ana Ivanovic.
Radwanska has climbed to the No. 5 spot in the world rankings, but she had no answer for the top ranked player.
"If she plays like that she's not going to lose any match soon," Radwanska said. "She has been on fire the last few months. It's really hard to play against her."
