NBA: Boston 104, Portland 86

BOSTON, March 9 (UPI) -- Ray Allen and Paul Pierce led Boston to an overwhelming second quarter Friday that lifted the Celtics to a 104-86 whipping of Portland.

Boston led by as many as 43 points, bouncing back from a 32-point loss to Philadelphia Wednesday.

Pierce and Allen both scored 22 points in helping the Celtics win for the sixth time in seven games.

Boston owned a 10-point lead heading into the second quarter, and then outscored the Trail Blazers 38-13 in that period. Portland turned the ball over 28 times in the contest.

Avery Bradley added 12 points for Boston and Sasha Pavlovic had 10.

Portland, which has lost five out of six, was led by LaMarcus Aldridge with 22 points. The Trail Blazers are off to an 0-2 start on their seven-game road trip.
